The process of transformation is at the crux of Zara Collins’ contemporary art practice. Her work is bound together by ideas of reinterpretation, appropriation and reinvention. Zara collects ‘everyday’ objects and recycled materials to transform into wearable pieces for the body and artworks. A variety of techniques, processes and styles are utilized to create her unique work. In addition to exhibiting new work regularly, both nationally and internationally, Zara is an independant curator, specializing in Australian contemporary craft.
